Meet the Club’s first Breakfast Makes Me Shine Grant Recipients!
A bicycle-powered smoothie blender, schoolyard gardens, greenhouses, and a fruit orchard tended to by ‘farmers in the playground.’ A wild berry harvest festival, good food field trips to farms and grocery stores, healthy cooking clubs, and a student-led ‘breakfast café’ designed with support from a retired architect for Disney. Wellness activities and community breakfasts that unite the whole school community, one of which is cleverly themed ‘The Breakfast Games.’
These are just a taste of the 38 inspiring school and community based projects that have been selected to receive one of the first Breakfast Makes Me Shine grants from the Club, thanks to generous funding provided by our partner, Saputo. These schools were carefully selected among 76 applications from nominated schools across the country. They were selected because their innovative projects truly align with the Club’s values and they have the capacity to engage students, encourage the development of lifelong healthy living habits, and mobilize communities around the breakfast club.
