Part 6: ‘Meet our Team’ series – Steven Letts
Quick bio:
Birthplace: Calgary, AB
Workplace: Vancouver, BC
Joined BCC: 2014 – brief hiatus – 2016
Work team: Administration
Favorite quote: ‘Laughter is the best medicine’
Favorite breakfast: Banana chocolate chips crepes (wait – is that considered breakfast?!)
Fun fact: I once entered a sushi eating contest and ate 80 California rolls in 30 minutes. I still only came in 3rd place!
Steev is the man, period. Looking for something in the office? He knows where it is because he keeps everything neat and organized. A school staff calls to apply for funding? He will patiently walk them through the process. Need help writing and shipping 20 Thank You letters to dedicated donors in 2 days? Steev is on it. Feeling low this morning? He will inspire and energize you with his determination (the guy hits the gym 5-6 times/week!), or he’ll crack a joke that will make the whole office burst into laughter. Yes, it’s confirmed, Steev has it all.
BCC: What’s your role at Breakfast Club of Canada?
As an Executive Assistant, I do a little bit of everything: I ensure our VP of Ontario and Western Canada is on schedule and I support her in preparing various presentations. I’m the lovely voice you hear when you call the Club’s Vancouver office, and I also lead our weekly team meetings to ensure they run smoothly and effectively. It’s a busy office, so I’ll often step in to support my colleagues in proofreading material, troubleshooting IT problems or making sure they always have healthy snacks to munch on in the kitchen!
BCC: What made you want to work with Breakfast Club Canada?
I love food, and even as a grown-up, I can get pretty hangry at times! I cannot imagine what it is like for children to try to read or count with a rumbling tummy. I’m glad to be participating in increasing awareness about food insecurity in Canada, and helping reduce or even erase child hunger in our country in the near future.
BCC: What is your favorite part of your job at Breakfast Club Canada?
I love the variety of tasks and activities I undertake each week. I’m always learning something new and it’s very rewarding. I also really enjoy watching our profile and reach grow each year – it’s exciting and motivating!
Stay tuned for more BCC staff profiles!
