Perry Spinney has been a fixture at West Kings High School for over 10 years and in that time he has been involved in many volunteer capacities in the school. He has been an active volunteer in the community since he was 17 years old.
At West Kings High School Mr. Spinney has developed or helped develop the breakfast and or lunch programs that are involved in the school.
Mr. Spinney has been instrumental in applying for and receiving grants for the Breakfast Club which has brought in yogurt, eggs, and juice, and because of his hard work different groups have donated a fridge, freezer, dishes and silverware which help to feed over 150 people.
“Mr. Spinney is a nice person who volunteers for the breakfast program. I have known Mr. Spinney for about a year now as I have helped him put the chairs up in the cafeteria. I like Mr. Spinney and I think that he is a nice person who deserves this award because he is a very caring person.”

“Mr. Spinney is a very nice man, he likes to joke with me and when he does he always has a smile and he likes to laugh. He is very patient and he loves to talk with anyone. He is a kind man and he is a great helper.”

“I have known Mr. Spinney for over two years. He is funny and tells lots of jokes at our work placement at the Plank and Hammer. He is a good friend to me almost like family. He likes to help others.”
Brandon, grade 10
“Mr. Spinney likes to sing all the time and he likes to wear red which is one of the main colours of the school. Mr. Spinney has always been nice to me; he is a good friend and is like family to me.”
Cody, grade 11
“Mr. Spinney takes me to my work placement every Thursday. He works out of Ms. Britain’s classroom (Learning Centre 1). He loves to wear his red West Kings Hoody. He works with a lot of different people does a lot of volunteering and he likes to help others out quite a lot.”
