Better Nutrition for Children at School

Better Nutrition for Children at School is an initiative by Breakfast Club of Canada to pursue its commitment to improving the nutritional quality of the food served in the schools it supports.

Developed in collaboration with the Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (INAF) and Équiterre, the initiative is made possible through the financial support of the ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec, under the Programme Alimentation Santé (PAS).

Continuous improvement for the benefit of children

The product of a strategic reflection on the Club’s role in transforming school food systems and encouraging healthy, sustainable eating habits, the initiative strengthens the Club’s position as a leading actor. By developing best practices and piloting innovative approaches, the project promotes food that is more nutritious, local, and sustainable—while keeping children at the heart of the process. Approached as part of the continuous improvement of school menus, it is both a rigorous and inspiring undertaking that will benefit children’s health as well as their taste buds.

CLUB DES PETITS DEJEUNERS

“We know that eating habits acquired in childhood have a lasting influence into adulthood. This is what drives us year after year to constantly improve the food offered in breakfast programs. The Better Nutrition for Children at School initiative is the product of great collaboration to take another step in our rigorous food selection process.”
