On January 18, Trent was treated like a celebrity by AC150 flight crew. Seated in Business Class, he experienced a premium Air Canada flight experience: from taking 40-winks in the fully-flat seat, to watching a movie and enjoying a healthy meal – the flight was a perfect introduction to what laid ahead for Trent.
A Breakfast Club kid fulfills the dream of a lifetime!
On January 19, Trent Leon, an Aboriginal youth enrolled in a Breakfast Club of Canada program in Anahim Lake, British Columbia, saw one of his fondest wishes come true, when he hit the ice at the Complexe Sportif Bell and fired a few shots at a net tended by none other than his idol, Carey Price!
This amazing encounter, which surpassed Trent’s wildest hopes, was the culmination of an adventure that began last summer when he shook No. 31’s hand at the launch of a new breakfast program serving two schools in Anahim Lake. The Air Canada Foundation, a loyal partner of Breakfast Club of Canada for more than a decade, made it possible for Trent to travel to Montreal and live his dream. It all started the day Habs hero Carey Price, who also hails from Anahim Lake, and his wife, Angela, agreed to become First Nations, Métis and Inuit ambassadors for Breakfast Club of Canada. Both are excellent spokespeople for the Club and play an active role in promoting the organization’s work.
“It is an honour and a privilege to be able to count on the support of kind-hearted people like Angela and Carey Price,” said Daniel Germain, President and Founder of Breakfast Club of Canada. “The level of their sincerity and commitment are an inspiration for every community. Their confidence and generosity are a positive projection of the Club’s own vitality and help us reach out to an even larger number of kids.”
And Trent’s dream doesn’t stop there…
On January 20, Trent travelled from Anahim Lake to Montreal to watch the Canadiens play against the Nashville Predators, from the comfort of the Air Canada suite. He got to cheer on its favourite goaltender and see first-hand how exciting a live game can be. He was also treated to several surprises by the Prices and the Air Canada Foundation, which picked up the tab for the entire trip.
A video of Trent’s life in Anahim Lake and his unforgettable experiences in Montreal has been made for use by the Air Canada Foundation and Breakfast Club of Canada. It clearly speaks to the tremendous influence someone of Carey Price’s stature can have on young fans.
Trent will treasure his memories of his Montreal adventure, and the time he spent with his hero, for a long time to come. It just goes to show that some of the best stories start with a dream…!
