Before the spread COVID-19, more than 1 million Canadian children were affected by food insecurity. Now, the current crisis is putting even more pressure on the families of these children.
Breakfast Club of Canada has created many initiatives to support children usually attending breakfast programs and local community organizations that assist food-insecure children…and we need your help to #FeedKidsNow. Please contribute, if you can, and spread the word on social media with the hashtag #FeedKidsNow.
Breakfast Club of Canada is working with likeminded organizations, schools and school districts across the country to help meet the needs of children who face food insecurity and ensure that there is as little disruption as possible in the delivery of nutritious food to those in need.
We are collaborating with food banks and other local resources to help distribute “grab & go” bags containing basic food items.
In schools, drop-off zones have been identified and communicated through school districts, so families know when and where to access these pick-up locations.
These bags will be distributed in a way that encourages social distancing and prevents unnecessary congregation.
The Club supports many community organizations to ensure children have access to nutritious food while schools are close.
Even if this support continues, we are no longer receiving new applications. If your organization needs support, please apply to the Emergency Community Support Fund created by the Government of Canada.
If your school wants to apply to open your own breakfast program, please apply in the Programs section of our website.
We don’t know how long this pandemic will affect us, or how long schools will be closed. Regardless of this uncertainty, we are committed to our mission of helping children in need.
Together, we’ll fight to ensure no child faces food insecurity.
Your contribution will play an important role in fighting food insecurity at this time.
