Breakfast Club of Canada has a worthy mission and an inspiring purpose. Our approach has been carefully and clearly developed to embody our ethics and values.
Our Approach
COLLABORATIVE
Partnering with Passion
One thing is for sure: we are stronger together.
We work with partners everyday, learning from them as we bring our experience and our passion to the table. Whether we are cooperating with volunteers, school boards or local community groups, it is crucial for us to bring out the best in everyone and share our knowledge through capacity building initiatives.

GUIDING
Strong Guiding Principles
Focused and driven to make a difference.
While we are respectful of the individual identity of each school breakfast program, our experience in student nutrition has shown us that some principles are fundamental to fostering impactful programs. As a result, we require all programs to be accessible to all students, serve breakfast every school day, offer at least 3 out of 4 food groups – aligned with Canada’s Food Guide – and take place in a safe, caring environment, centred on students’ well-being.

MOBILIZING
Mobilizing all sectors of society
We believe that giving children an equal chance at success is a shared responsibility incumbent upon every sector of society. More than 95% of our funding comes from the private sector, both individual and corporate donors.
We are proud of the relationships we build, and of our commitment to always putting children first. We are honoured by the trust various stakeholders place in us and by their efforts to contribute to our mission. And we hope that, one day soon, all levels of government will join us in working toward our goal.

EVALUATING
Evaluation of our main support roles
In 2019, we commissioned Credo, a social impact agency, to conduct an extensive evaluation of our main support models. Credo’s evaluation focuses on the relevance and effectiveness of our approach in supporting school breakfast programs across Canada. More specifically, it allows us to understand the extent to which our approach and our involvement correspond to the needs of the communities.
The results of the evaluation are now available, and we are happy to share them with you!
